Joseph J. Cristinzio of Ivyland and formerly of Northeast Philadelphia died peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was 96.
Born in Philadelphia, Joseph was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Patricia A. Thude Cristinzio, son of the late Francesco and Anna Maria DeClerico Cristinzio; he was also predeceased by his 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
Joe was a life long resident of Philadelphia, living 60 years in Northeast Philadelphia until moving to Ivyland in 2015. He was a graduate of Frankford High School, class of 1936. He proudly served during World War II in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Joe was the founder and owner of Crist Motors in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, which he operated for over 35 years. In the Cristinzio household, Sunday was family day. Joe worked 6 days a week, so he made sure he spent quality time with his beloved wife and children. The Sunday ritual was Mass, out for breakfast and then a “Sunday Ride”, never telling them were until they where on the way, possibly the Jersey Shore or the Pocono Mountains, those wonderful memories have lasted a life time.
He will be remembered for his hard work and love of family.
Joe is survived by his loving and devoted children; Susan DiFlorio, Cynthia Hepp and her husband Mark, Joseph Cristinzio and his wife Edna, Anne Santilli and her husband Mario and , Michael Cristinzio and his wife Lisa, He is also survived by his 9 cherished grandchildren: Stephanie, Christian, Daniel, Lisa, Matthew, Antonio, Michael, Steven, and Giana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday March 4, from 12 Noon until his Funeral Mass 1:00pm at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland. Interment will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown
In lieu of flowers, Joseph’s family would appreciate contributions in his memory to Mount Nazareth Convent, Sisters of the Holy Family, 2755 Holme Ave. Phila, PA 19152.
