John R. Schofield, of Churchville, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Mary Agnes Schofield. He was the beloved husband of Irene “Renee” Halberg Schofield.

John was a proud man with impeccable work ethic. This was demonstrated by his employment as a general manager at Arthur’s Catering in Philadelphia for over 20 years and his longtime position with L-3 Communications as Maintenance Supervisor. A very proud American, John served his country in the 101st Airbourne Division from 1960-1964. With a positive outlook on life, he frequently commented that he “never had a bad day in his life”.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Maureen Schofield and Russell and Claudia Schofield; his step children and their spouses, Eric and Lizanne Weinelt, Debra Weinelt, Erik Halberg and Kerk Halberg. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Nick and Karen Ruggiero and sister, Patty McEwen. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Alyssa and Krista Schofield; Erica, Elizabeth, Steven and Daniel Weinelt and Luke, Jake, Emily and Ethan Halberg.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, March 2 from 10:00 am until the start of his funeral service, 11:30 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will take place privately.
