James Thomas Tait, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at age 87 in the company of family.

Jim was born in Chicago, IL and moved the family to Doylestown in 1970. Jim entered the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and served as an Air Navigator in squadron VMR 352. He married his high school sweetheart and they have been married for 63 years.

Jim worked full-time as a draftsman / engineer at Link-Belt, taking night classes to earn a Civil Engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. He continued working at Link-Belt / FMC his entire career as a Professional Engineer and Project Manager of Purchasing. During this time he supervised the U.S. Post Office material handling installations across the nation, the baggage handling system for the Kuwaiti International Airport, and an iron ore processing plant in Venezuela where he and his wife lived for four years.

He was an intellect and could explain how almost anything worked. He loved history, current events, western movies, being with his family, working around the house and on his MG, and painting watercolors. He loved volunteering as a swim team starter for years. He was also one of his grandchildren’s biggest supporters of their sports and school activities.

His family’s dedication to him is a mere sentiment compared to the love we felt in return. Jim leaves behind his wife June, his daughter Becky and her husband Tim Reilly, his son Jim and his wife Sarah (Small) Tait, his sister Beverly and her husband David Calhoun, five grandchildren; Katelynn (Reilly) and her husband Bradley Vierling, Leslie Reilly, Patrick Reilly, Collin Tait, and Garrett Tait, along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1:00pm until his Funeral Service 2:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd) New Britain, PA 18901.  His interment will be held privately at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doylestown Hospital Hospice Center, 875 North Easton Road, Doylestown, PA 18902.
