Steve Theodore Bakas, of Doylestown, PA passed away February 5, 2017 at UPenn Hospital surrounded by family he loved so dearly. He was 58 years old.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Deborah Vlahakis Bakas.
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Steve was the son of Joanna Sideropoulos Bakas and the late Judge Theodore Bakas. He was a proud graduate of Boston Latin School. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and later received an MBA from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He worked at UOP, Des Plaines, IL, for 24 years. The past 12 years, Steve worked for GE Water & Process Technologies, Trevose, PA,
In addition to his beloved wife, Steve is survived by his cherished daughters, Nikki Joanna and Anna Catherine; dear brothers James (Edrea) Bakas and Michael (Pauline) Bakas. Fond Uncle to Rachel, Teddy, Nick, Jesse and Allie. Adored son-in-law to George and Catherine Vlahakis. Dear brother-in-law to Dean Vlahakis (Lynda); and Nicolette Vlahakis (Jim). Loved nephew to many aunts and uncles, as well as fond cousin to many.
Steve’s love for his church was extremely strong, and he was a very active member of St. Philip Orthodox Church. He loved the beach and loved to read. His family was his priority and greatest joy. Steve’s sweet, easy-going personality along with his consistent, warm smile and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 10 from 6pm to 8pm at Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave (at Sandy Ridge Rd), New Britain, PA 18901, and on Saturday, February 11, from 10am until the start of his funeral service; 11am, at St. Philip Orthodox Church, 1970 Clearview Rd, Souderton, PA 18964. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip Orthodox Church at the above address. May his memory be eternal.
