Bertha E. Cripps passed away peacefully in Doylestown January 21, 2017. Bertha was born Bertha Wingerter September 8, 1928 in Philadelphia, the daughter of Eugene Wingerter and Elizabeth Farrell Wingerter. Bertha lived a full, ethical and impressive life, largely in the service to others. After the early passing of her husband, Richard M. Cripps, Jr., Bertha raised three sons as a single mother. Bertha worked full-time up until the age of 74. Her most recent employment was at the then Doylestown Manor, where she worked for 28 years. Bertha was a very active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was selected Women of the Year for her contributions by the Ladies of Mt. Carmel. Bertha was a resident of the Doylestown area for 53 years. She will be greatly missed.

Bertha is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Wingerter Buderacki, her sister-in-law, Lois Wingerter, her in-laws, Benjamin and Ninel Shargorodsky, her sons, Richard, Christopher and Robert Cripps, her daughters-in-law, Jeannie Cripps and Olga Shargorodska, her granddaughters, Emily Cripps and Julia Babkina, her great-granddaughter, Sarah Cripps, many beloved nieces, nephews and their children, and many friends. Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Richard M. Cripps, Jr., her sister, Jeanette Wingerter McKeever, her brother, George Wingerter, her brother-in-law, George Buderacki, her brother and sister-in-law, Oliver Cripps and Margaret Paxson Cripps, her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Doris Cripps Siler, and her nieces, Margaret Cripps and Jeanette McKeever Gloge, and her nephews, Richard Cripps and Gregory Buderacki. Bertha made the world a better place.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass at 11:00am on Thursday, January 26 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street Doylestown, PA 18901. Bertha will be laid to rest along side her late husband Richard in Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn.
