Robert J. McDonald of Doylestown passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 91.

Robert was the beloved husband of 65 years to Catherine T. Colleran   McDonald.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Shannon McDonald.

Robert was a former resident of Warrington before recently moving to Doylestown. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Robert had a distinguished career as an Executive with Ohio Casualty Insurance Company for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Doylestown and in his leisure time enjoyed woodworking. Robert will be deeply missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

In addition to his wife Catherine, Robert is survived by his children, Michael McDonald, Eileen McDonald and her husband John Whalon, Maureen Spix and her husband Michael, Sue Espada and her husband Don, Tom McDonald and his wife Sue and Joseph McDonald and his wife Sue. Robert is also survived by his 15 cherished grandchildren, KC, Juleigh, Michael (Melissa), Tim, John (Lindsey), Kyle, Jon-Michael, Krista (Joe), Jeff (Julie), Jennifer, Dan, Sammy Jo, Ryan, Jake and Matt and his 7 great grandchildren, Maria, Ellie, Brittney, Emma, Brooklyn, Kati and Jeffrey.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 9:00am until his Funeral Mass 10:30am on Thursday, January 19th in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5175 Cold Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pa 18902. Robert’s interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to VFW Post 175, P.O. Box 1533, Doylestown, PA 18901.
