Gerald F. “Jerry” Glackin, of Lansdale, PA died on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Abington-Lansdale Hospital, Jefferson Health. He was 80.

He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Barbara Glackin.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Scullin Glackin.

Jerry grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, went to St. Joseph’s Prep and then on to Villanova University where he received his undergraduate degree in 1958 and then his Law Degree in 1961.  He moved to Lansdale in 1962 and began to take root into his church and community.  Jerry was a talented and hard working attorney who believed in giving back to his community.  He volunteered with the United Way in North Penn and has remained with them for over 50 years, served on the Montgomery Township, Park and Recreation board and was an active parishioner and communicant at St. Stanislaus Church where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Pius IX Council 4396.

In 1987, Jerry, his family, and 600 other families were transferred from St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale to become the founding families of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish and like before, Jerry and his wife continued their volunteer work.  Jerry gave his time and talent to many committees.  It didn’t matter if he was working on the golf, finance or building committee, he enjoyed them all.

More than anything, Jerry will long be remembered for his love of family, sense of humor and dedication to Villanova Basketball.

In addition to his wife he survived by his children Kevin Glackin and his wife Christina of Northampton Boro, Brian Glackin of Arlington, VA, Patrick Glackin of Asbury, NJ, Kelly Fay and her husband Jerry of Thornton, PA, Theresa Carbone and her husband Jack of Allentown, and Daniel Glackin of Lansdale, his 3 sisters Nancy Haughey of Mountain Side, NJ, Mary Bernadette Wilcox of California and Colette Flanagan of Connecticut.  He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a granddaughter, Kathleen Carbone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Friday, from 9:00AM until his Funeral Mass, 11:00AM at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Rd., North Wales, PA 19454.  Interment will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cem, Doylestown.
