John Shegda of Spring City, PA died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Southeastern Veterans Center. He was 98.

John was the beloved husband to the late Maria Schopp Shegda.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Metro and Anna Shegda and grand father of the late David Yost.

John was a former resident of Warminster since 1967 before moving to Spring City. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II and a member of the St. Anne Ukrainian Church in Warrington. John was a butcher with Illig’s meats from 1968 until his retirement in 1994. In his leisure, he enjoyed a good cigar and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

John is survived by his children, Linda M. Yost and her husband Donald of Lansdale, John Shegda and his wife Wendy of Mertztown and Sondra Shegda of Warminster. He is also survived by his cherished grand daughter Holly Yost.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:30am until his Funeral Service 10:30am on Monday, January 16^th in St. Anne Ukrainian Church, 1545 Easton Road, Warrington, PA 18976. John’s interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville.
