Marie C. McKenzie of Newtown, formerly of Holland, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Pickering Manor. She was 92.
Born in Philadelphia, Marie was the beloved wife of the late Robert N. McKenzie, daughter of the late Joseph and Caterina Pileggi Cocola, and mother-in-law to the late Joseph Moore.
Known for her feisty personality and tenacity, a good word to describe Marie would be “spunky”. Marie was continuously busy, throughout her life, accomplishing things through volunteerism; parish bazaars, Saint Mary’s and Home and School Associations with both St. Bede and St. Andrew schools, and as a substitute teacher. She was actively involved with the Richboro Swim Team, the Northampton Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and organizing many senior events and outings. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren's sport’s & school events.
Marie is survived by her loving and devoted children: Tina McKenzie Moore of Newtown, Robert B. McKenzie of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Amy McKenzie of Langhorne, and Scott M. McKenzie and his wife Ann of Doylestown. She is also survived by her 8 dear grandchildren: Ryan Barnes, Matthew McKenzie and his wife, Katherine Lawrence, Kacie Moore Ford and her husband, Kevin Ford, Courtney Barnes, Joey Moore, Megan McKenzie, Paige McKenzie, and Michael McKenzie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday Evening January 9, from 7:00 to 9:00PM at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro PA 18954 and to her Funeral Mass Tuesday, January 10, at 10:30AM in the Olde Church of St. Andrew 135 S. Sycamore St. Newtown PA 18940. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Pickering Manor Home, 226 N. Lincoln Ave., Newtown, PA 18940.
