David Miller Sutherland, 90, of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully on December 30, 2016 surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 24, 1926 in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late Magnus and Jennie (Miller) Sutherland and was the older of two children. After graduation from Chelmsford High School he attended Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. It was here that he met and married Marcia Jean Reed Condit in 1948. She was the daughter of the late Russell Leslie Condit and Marcella E. Fraikes. In 1950 he would graduate from Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts with an MA in Organic Chemistry.

David was an avid genealogist with records tracing his Scottish heritage back as far as 1812. He was also a student of the French culture and language, played the piano and sang in many choirs and choruses. Prior to retirement he was Vice President and General Manager of Wilmington Chemical, Wilmington, Delaware. He retired to Ocean Pines, Maryland in 1990 and moved to Ann’s Choice, Warminster, Pennsylvania in 2007.

David was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister (Natalie Jane Keirstead). He is survived by his two sons, David Sutherland of Millsboro, Delaware, Thomas Sutherland of Yardley, Pennsylvania, two daughters, Leslie Jeske of Sacramento, California and Julia White, Millheim, Pennsylvania and 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Rose Gardens at Ann’s Choice for the care and support demonstrated by everyone over the last few months.

Services were private and internment will be at Washington Cemetery, Washington, Pennsylvania.
