Wallace “Wally” B. Jakacki, of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2016. He was 85.
He was the beloved husband of the late Sallie Ann Black Jakacki and brother of the late Bernard Jakacki.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Benhard and Violet Wagner Jakacki.
After high school, Wally joined the army where he specialized in radar maintenance. When he was honorably discharged in 1952, he took the skills he learned in the military and used them throughout college and much of his career. He attended the Drexel Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering.
Wally began his career at Honeywell. He moved on to hold various positions at Leeds & Northrup, Barlow Corp, Macro Corp, and Ayden Corp. He eventually retired as Director of Operations at Aquarium Pharmaceuticals.
Wally’s interests were varied and not just focused on his work as an engineer. Wally was a creative spirit an avid photographer and shared three patents with his co-inventors. He was also a certified professional engineer and Land Surveyor in the state of Pennsylvania. He volunteered for many projects and boards, but especially enjoyed his time serving on the Board of New Britain Township Parks & Recreation. He was also very proud to serve as the Commissioner of Lenape Valley Girls Softball for 6 years.
He is survived by three daughters; Sue Ann Fitzsimmons and her husband Kevin of Chalfont, Jane Bittner and her husband Clarke of Chalfont, and Mary Krempa and her husband Bill of Chalfont. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Jake, Jaclyn, TK, Jamie, Clarke, and Wallace.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 9:00AM until his Funeral Service at 11:00AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave., (at Sandy Ridge Road) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
