Louis “Luigi” D’Emilio of Holland died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at his home. He was 87.
Luigi was the beloved husband of the late Iolanda Cavarocchi D’Emilio.
Born in Roseto, in the Abruzzese region of Italy, he was the son of the late Emilio and Elisabetta D’Emilio; and father of the late Marlena D’Emilio. He also was preceded in death by his three brothers and one sister.
Luigi emigrated from Italy in 1961, through Ellis Island, New York. He eventually settled in the Bensalem community where he lived for over 41 years and worked as a custom tailor. In 1974 he opened Luigi’s Tailoring in Northeast Philadelphia, and continued his profession until his retirement in 2013, when he moved to Holland.
In his leisure, he enjoyed watching Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Philadelphia Flyers. Luigi’s true joy was the quality time he spent with his family and the memories that he fostered for future generations.
Luigi is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth R. Simiriglio and her husband, Francis; his sisters, Anna DiMarco and Anna Maria Ruggieri; his three grandchildren, Francesca Beebe and her husband, Sean, Alessandra Wynne and her husband, Brandon, and Jordana Simiriglio; and three cherished great-grandchildren, Christian, Blake and Brant. He also is survived by Paul Abdalla, who has been a close part of his family for many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday Dec. 23, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro and to his funeral Mass at noon at St. Bede the Venerable Church, Holland. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, for Colon Cancer Research, 1626 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
