Lois Jean McCaughey, of Richboro, passed away at home, with her family by her side, on November 1, 2016. She was 83.
She was the beloved wife of 60 years to George McCaughey.
Born in Croydon, Lois was the daughter of the late Gordon and Lucinda Roberts. She was the sister of the late Elmer and Gerald Roberts and sister-in-law of the late Samuel Brangan.
A resident of Richboro for the past 52 years, Lois attended Bristol High School and after her marriage to George on June 2, 1964, lived in Levittown until moving to Richboro in 1964. Lois worked at the Bucks County Court House in Doylestown for 35 years, as a Tip Staff, until her retirement in March 2007.
Lois was an extraordinary woman who had a passion for life. Her charismatic whit and charm was infectious and she was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband to warm tropical islands, and taking cruises to see the world, all the while creating a lifetime of wonderful memories. She also enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurants. She was a great cook and well known for her German potato salad.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband George McCaughey; a loving mother to her children and son-in-law, Scott McCaughey, and Sandra and James Mooney; and a caring grandmother to her granddaughter Stephanie Mooney. She will also be remembered by her siblings, Nancy Brangan, Gordon Roberts, Bruce Roberts and his wife Naomi, Ronald Roberts and his wife Linda; and her sister-in-law Carol Swalm along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
