James G. Vergis, M.D. (“Doc”) of Wycombe, PA died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 11, 2016. He was 81.

Jim was the beloved husband of the late Rosemary G. O’Donnell Vergis.

Born in Oil City, PA he was the son of the late George J. and Ruth Wilson Vergis and the brother of the late John Vergis.

Jim was a graduate of Grove City College and The Temple University School of Medicine and was a Board Certified Internist and Nephrologist. He had a distinguished career at Lower Bucks Hospital, built the largest physician owned and operated medical practice in Bucks County, and was Chief of Medicine at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many fishing and hunting adventures across the globe. His true passion, however, was being an active part in his children’s and his grandchildren’s lives. He was also a mentor to many and will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his children: Lynn Ellen Vergis, George J. Vergis and his wife, Janet, Trisha A. Vergis, John F. Vergis and Linda Leonard, Michael J. Vergis and his wife, Sandy, and Peter M. Vergis and his wife, Jeanette. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Owen, Katie, Sara, Nicole, Jacqueline, Julia, Will, Jack, and, Pete, his sister Mary Denk (William), brother Michael Vergis (Joan), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Friday Evening, September 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 9:00am until his Funeral Service 10:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
