Ruth Dorothy Colyar of Richboro, PA died peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016, surrounded by her family at Holy Redeemer Hospice, Meadowbrook. She was 82.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph F. Colyar for 63 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ruth Spencer Metzger and sister of the late Anthony Metzger, Mary Hill, and Doris Visco.
Mrs. Colyar was a resident of Richboro for the past 23 years and formerly lived in Churchville. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Class of 1950. Her family came first and foremost in her life. She loved family time together especially enjoying holiday parties, birthdays and casual gatherings at their home. Special times spent with her children and grandchildren were greatly cherished. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and family to various island destinations and taking cruises throughout Europe, South America and the Far East. She loved learning about other countries and their culture. She spent her free time playing classical music on the piano, reading mysteries, solving crossword puzzles and relaxing on the beach in Wildwood Crest, NJ. She welcomed family and friends to their beach home generously sharing what they had with others. She will be sadly missed as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her six sons, Joseph F. Colyar Jr. of Flemington, NJ, James J. Colyar and his wife, Nancy, of Newtown, PA, John T. Colyar and his wife, Lynda, of Harleysville, PA, Thomas R. Colyar and his wife, Diane, of Holland, PA, Kevin R. Colyar and his wife, Alice, of Perkasie, PA and Mark S. Colyar and his wife, Leslie, of New Hope, PA. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Service 12:00 Noon at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Her interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
