John C. Gessner of Washington Crossing, went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 30, 2016. He was 79.

He was the beloved husband of Adele Roeder Gessner for 58 years.

Born in Allentown, PA, John was the son of the late Lee E. and Grace Jones Gessner. He is also pre-deceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

John was a graduate of Neshaminy H.S., class of 1954. He owned a bowling alley and, alongside his brothers and father, installed bowling alleys. He was a union carpenter and a self-employed home renovator.

He was a member of the New Life Christian Church in Newtown where he was active in the choir and volunteered on numerous projects. He was also a member of the Bux Mont Squire of Song barbershop-style singing group. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, bowling and camping trips.

John was the loving father of John Jr., and wife Maria; Thomas, and wife Lynn; Carol Frey, and husband David; Dwayne, and wife Hannah; and Gary, and partner Christopher. He was the beloved grandfather of Jennifer Samuels, and husband, Stephen; Valerie Mandell, and husband Tyson; Kaitlin, Mark and Kimberlee Gessner; Cassandra Frey; Jeremy Frey; Christopher, Justin, Hayley, Abigail and Alana Gessner. He was also the great grandfather of 10.

John’s family will receive friends on Saturday, August 6, at New Life Christian Church, 4 Freedom Dr. Newtown, PA 18940 from 9:30am until the funeral service at 11:00am, with Rev. Dr. Norman Leve, Jr. officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to New Life Christian Church or to St. Mary Medical Center Foundation, 1717 Langhorne Newtown Road, Suite 300 Langhorne, PA 19047.
