William T. Schwartz, Jr., (Bill) of Buckingham, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 4, 2016, at home with his family nearby. He was 98 ½ years old. As we celebrated Independence Day here, Bill was celebrating his new freedom in heaven with his wife of 58 years, Edythe A. (Maeder) Schwartz, who preceded him in death in 2000, as well as former family and friends.

Born in Clayton, NJ, he was the son of the late William T. Schwartz, Sr., and his wife, Ada E. (Wilkins) Schwartz.

Bill was a long time resident of Philadelphia, PA, until 2000, when he moved to Buckingham, PA to live with his son, William H. Schwartz, Sr., and his family. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He also attended the Philadelphia Bible Institute. He was employed in management at Arthur H. Thomas Scientific Apparatus Company for over 35 years. Before retiring, he was self-employed as an Electrical Contractor and Real Estate Investor. Bill was very proud to be a Captain in the U.S. Army, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. In his free time, he loved attending his grandsons’ lacrosse, basketball, baseball, and theater events. Serving the Lord and witnessing to others was his utmost priority. Over the years, he attended Berachah, Burholme Baptist, and First Brethren churches, all in Philadelphia, then Hilltown Baptist Church and, most recently, Covenant Church in Buckingham.

Lovingly known as “Pop-Pop,” Bill is survived by his son, William H. Schwartz, Sr., and his wife, Rebecca Lynn Schwartz, of Buckingham, PA. He is also survived by his two loving grandsons, William H. Schwartz, Jr., and Bryan N. Schwartz, also of Buckingham, PA. He was preceded in death by his younger siblings: two sisters, Virginia Schwartz and Clara (Schwartz) Reemsta, and two brothers, Ashton and Charles Schwartz.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 3:00-4:30 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Avenue, New Britain, PA, 18901. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 4:30 pm. Interment will take place Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 11:00 am at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA. 19004
