Verna F. Coale of Holland Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Fellowship Manor Nursing Home in Whitehall, PA. She was 91.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Marland Crankshaw and Mary Alice Boysen France.

Verna was married for 41 happy years to William G. Coale, who passed away in 1992.

Verna graduated with a degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1945. Her career in teaching math and science began in Yeadon, Pennsylvania and she continued work as a substitute teacher for the Council Rock School District while raising her family.

Verna was a member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church for over forty years where she was very active in the choir and all church activities. She had a great interest in antiques and was an active member of the Questers, an organization dedicated to the study, conservation and preservation of historical objects. In her leisure she enjoyed quilting and doing needlepoint . She loved to spend time with her family at the pool.

Verna is survived by her three children, William G. Coale Jr. and his wife Jane, Nancy L. Zenko and her husband Stephen and Richard F. Coale and his wife Elizabeth. She is also survived by her brother Howard B. France, sister-in-law Margery Coale, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Verna’s funeral services and interment will be held privately.
