Liberato “Lou” DeLuca of Holland died peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. He was 92.
Born in Canton, Ohio, Mr. DeLuca was a resident of Holland for the past 36 years, formerly of the Stonybrook section of Levittown. He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Irene Marro DeLuca and son of the late Sabatino and Maria Lombardi DeLuca. He was pre deceased by his brothers Fred and Anthony, sisters Amelia and Angelina.
Lou was a graduate of Roslyn High School, class of 1942. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, and served with the 34th Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant with the Combat Engineers.
Lou had a long career, starting as a Supervisor for Hubbard Supply Corp., overseeing the installation and construction of pumping stations, sanitary lines and water mains developing the new Levittown. In 1961 he joined Levitt and Sons, Inc. of Willingboro, NJ, where he was Senior Supervisor of maintenance and construction for the Willingboro Plaza. In 1969 Cynwyd Investments took over the operation of Willingboro Plaza and Lou became Chief Operating Engineer for the Plaza and also Head of Security, holding both positions until his retirement in 1980.
Thru the years Lou received many degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, LaSalle-Utilities Engineering Institute and the National Power Engineers, Steam Operation Diploma. In 1978 Lou was recognized by the Mayor of Willingboro and the Willingboro Businessmen’s Association for his work at the Willingboro Plaza by celebrating "Lou DeLuca Day".
A family man thru and thru, Lou looked forward to the time he spent with family and friends, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and hiking. He will be remembered for his firm handshake and warm smile.
In addition to his beloved wife Irene, he is survived by his 2 sons; Renato "Ron" S. DeLuca, Esq and Edward P. DeLuca, EA and his wife, Patricia, he is also survived by his sister Giannina Gianandrea.
Lou’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, May 19 from 10:30 AM until his Prayer Service 11:45AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contribution in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital for Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
