Rita M. Selwocki Dwornikowski, formerly of Chalfont died peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 81.
She was the beloved wife of the late Charles S. Dwornikowski. Born in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Michalski Selwocki. She was predeceased by her 8 sisters and brothers.
Rita was a resident of Chalfont for 46 years and was a faithful communicant of St. Jude Parish, before moving to The Birches at Newtown in 2015. Rita’s professional career spanned 20 years, working as an executive secretary for Prudential Insurance Company of America in Newark, NJ and Ft Washington, PA.
Rita is survived by her devoted son, Gregory Dwornikowski, his wife Susan, and her beloved grandson, Alex. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rita’s pride and joy was her grandson, Alex. Over the years, Rita was so happy to attend many school holiday concerts, class plays, and Grandparents Days. She loved hearing about Alex’s class trips and other special events, and was the source of great encouragement for all. She was the family cheerleader.
Rita was an avid Phillies fan, and enjoyed attending games at Citizens Bank Park even when confined to her wheelchair. She loved spending time on Long Beach Island with her family. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, and enjoyed attending Mass, participating in her rosary group, and volunteering at church and school in her younger days.
She cherished her time spent with her beloved family, and enjoyed Sunday dinners together. She loved to cook and bake, and was known for her home-make pierogis, poppy-seed roll, and other Polish treats, particularly around the holidays.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave. Chalfont, from 9:30am until her Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
