Paul D. Gibbons, Sr. of Southampton died on Sunday May 1, 2016, at St. Joseph Manor in Meadowbrook.

He was 92.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved husband of 67 years to the late Marie T. McVey Gibbons, son of the late William J. Jr. and Helen C. O’Donnell Gibbons, father of the late Maryann and Marie Gibbons, and brother of the late Helen G. Etzl and William, Edward, Joseph, Jack, James, Daniel, and Donald Gibbons.

Paul was a graduate of LaSalle College High School and LaSalle College with his degree in Business Administration. He was a resident of Huntingdon Valley for many years before moving to Southampton 27 years ago. He was a faithful and active communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the SS New Orleans, SS Henry Wilson and SS James Ralph during WWII. Paul was a partner with his late brother Joe in a General Motors Dealership, known as Erwin Chevrolet which was located on N. Broad St. in Philadelphia for many years.

Paul enjoyed boating and deep sea fishing off the Jersey coast and spent many happy hours in the Atlantic Ocean looking for the “Big One”. Paul and his wife Marie enjoyed traveling over their 67 years of marriage.

Paul and his wife Marie where blessed with 10 children and were rewarded with 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Paul will be sadly missed not only by his caring family but many life long friends.

Paul is survived by his children and their spouses; Paul D. Gibbons, Jr. and his wife Patti, Patti McTear and her husband Tom, Donna M. Donohoe and her husband Bill, Daniel Gibbons, Barbara Cook, Edward Gibbons, Suzanne Leven and her husband Greg, and Nell Bailey and her husband Scott, along with his 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday evening May 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and to his Funeral Mass Tuesday May 10th at 10:00am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 2nd Street Pike and Knowles Ave. Southampton, with words of remembrance at 9:55 am.

Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
