Jack M. McGeary of Newtown passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 84.
Jack was the beloved husband of 42 years to Kathy Kryven McGeary. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose family always came first.
Born and raised in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Albert and Helen (Morledge) McGeary.
Jack was a graduate of North High School in Akron and a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. He was a US Navy veteran having served as an Aviation Ordnanceman aboard the USS Oriskany (CV34) during the Korean War.
Jack was a sales representative for Commerce Clearing House until his retirement.
An avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, yet always loyal to his Cleveland Indians. Jack also enjoyed horse racing and visits to the Philadelphia Race Track. He was a WWII history buff and traveled to the battlefields of Europe with his son Jeff in 2009.
Jack was a 39-year resident of Newtown and a long-time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where he served as a faithful usher.
Lastly, his family would like to give special thanks to Chandler Hall Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
In addition to his beloved wife, Jack is survived by his sons Stephen (Lisa), John (Janyce), David and Jeff (Iryna); daughter Kristin (Matthew) Markey; his sisters Margie Jenkins, Kathy Allen, Joan (Joe) Ott and his brother-in-law Joe Kryven; his grandchildren Joseph (Kristine), John II, Jessica, Nicole, Madilyn, Flynnie, Connor and Katelyn; and great grandchild Kailiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 10th from 10AM until his funeral mass at 11:30 AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 100 Washington Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940. His interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at the above address.
