Agnes Rafferty Baker of Holland died peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. She was 93.
Agnes was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Joseph Gerald John Baker Sr.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Owens Rafferty.
Agnes was raised and attended school in Our Lady of Mercy Parish. She continued her Catholic education at John W. Hallahan Catholic High School for Girls and was a proud member of the class of 1941. She married at Holy Child Church, and in time she along with her husband raised their family in St. Athanasius and Nativity of Our Lord parishes. She valued her Catholic education, and made sure that her Children were also educated in the same fashion. Agnes was the consummate wife and mother and she loved to see her family blossom with the arrival of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Agnes will be greatly missed, but forever loved by everyone whose heart she has touched.
Agnes is survived by her 6 loving children; Joseph J. Baker Jr. and his wife Catherine of North Wales, Mary M. Baker of Newtown, Kathleen R. Klarich and her husband Timothy of Philadelphia, Thomas B. Baker and his wife Paula of Jamison, John W. Baker of Holly Springs, NC, and Patricia B. Tento and her husband Anthony of Harleysville. She is also survived by her brother Bernard Rafferty and his wife Joan, and was the devoted MomMom to 14 grandchildren Joe, Stephen (Jill), Kevin (Kathryn), Mary Kate, Maureen, Timmy (Annie), Brian, Colin, Brigid, Tommy, Chris, Danny, Caitlin, Brenna, and two great grandchildren Molly and Connor.
Agnes’ family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 9:15am until her Funeral Mass 10:30am in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, 475 E. Chelten Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19144.
