Wilma Jean Barr of Yardley passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne with her loving family by her side. She was 88.
Wilma was the beloved wife of the late Charles Frasier Barr with whom she would have shared 72 years of marriage.
Born in Steubenville, OH she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Glazner Stier. She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Barr and her granddaughter Carrie Rae Friedman.
Although she spent much of the beginning of her life in Ohio, together with her husband they later resided in Baltimore and then finally settled in Levittown, Bucks County where they were one of the first proud “Levittowners”. They later moved on to the Yardley area.
Her husband Charles was the love of her life and together they enjoyed travelling all over the world. She loved to read, golf and had many long lasting friendships with countless friends they made over the years.
Simply put, Wilma was a class act. Her appearance was always flawless and she was known for her effortless style and sophistication. Never one to sugar coat anything, her candor was plentiful and you never had to wonder what she had on her mind.
Most importantly her devotion to and pride in her family was without limits and her tenacity and strength will not soon be forgotten.
Wilma is survived by her loving children Robert Barr (Patricia) of Langhorne and Susan Friedman (Andrew) of Yardley. She also leaves behind her 9 adoring grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
