Bruce H. Gill, of Richboro, died peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. He was 87.

Bruce was born in Philadelphia and was the beloved husband of 65 years to Dorothy M. Haws Gill

He was the son of the late Joseph H. and Minnie Merrifield Gill.

Bruce was raised at the Milton Hershey School, and graduated from the Hershey Industrial School in 1945. He received his under graduate degree in Business from Central Michigan University. He was a proud member of our greatest generation and a veteran of the United States Navy serving with the Sea Bees during World War II in the Philippines.

Bruce had worked with the Philadelphia Police Department, Highway Patrol Division and was part of the Motorcycle drill team for 11 years. He worked in the Automobile Industry for over 35 years and retired as St. Louis Zone Manager from Chrysler Corporation in 1988. In his leisure Bruce enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and working outside on his house. He enjoyed singing with a choral group while spending his winters in Naples, Fla. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. They all adored him. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Ivyland. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife Dorothy, he is survived by his two devoted children, Joyce A. Diehle and her husband Chuck, and Bruce H. Gill Jr. and his wife Diane. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, Peter Gill and his wife Barbara, Malcolm Gill and his wife Lois and his sister Peggy Maloney and her husband Bob. He is the proud grandfather of Christopher Gill, Courtney Ganter and her husband Bill, Ashley Emerick and her husband Eric and Bradley Gill.

Bruce’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, November 6, from 10:00am until his funeral service 11:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
