Lawrence J. Bark of Langhorne, PA died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 11, 2016 at his residence. He was 79.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Lawrence was the son of the late Joseph W. and Anna M. Konowal Bark.
He was a resident of Langhorne for the past 14 years and formerly lived in Columbia, Maryland. Lawrence graduated from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1954 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Temple University in 1958. He was an officer in the Naval reserve and served as a crew member on anti-submarine aircraft. His career in Human Resources started by working for the city of Philadelphia and later the Social Security Administration Division of the Federal Government before retiring in 2002.
He was co-owner of a racehorse and worked part time on weekends at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD. In his leisure time, he was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, jogging, biking and loved listening to classical music, collecting works of art and family get togethers.
He will be sadly missed as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Lawrence was married to Joan Hoskins, now deceased. He is survived by his son, Brian D. Bark and his wife, Tracey, of Newtown, PA and his three grandsons, Matthew, Zachary and Patrick Bark. He is also survived by his four sisters, Kathleen A. Giroud of Southampton, PA, Loretta M. Martin-Martinelli of Yardley, PA, Diane J. Gallagher of Bradenton, FL, and Joanne C. Shead of Southampton, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence’s family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2016, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111 (c/o Michael Burton, Donations) or through Fox Chase’s website.
