Mary C. Masterson (nee Healy) of Newtown passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Pickering Manor Home in Newtown. She was 85.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Edward G. Masterson.
Born in New York, New York, she was the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Martin and Margaret Green Healy. Mary grew up in the Bronx, NY and graduated in 1948 from Cathedral HS in NYC. Mary attended CCNY. Mary met her husband of 45 years at a CYO dance in 1951 and married in April 1953. Together they raised their five children in Syosset, LI, NY, before moving to Holland, PA in 1973.
Mary was a resident of Holland for over 40 years before recently moving to Pickering Manor Home. Mary held several positions including a career as a Settlement Officer and as an administrator at the Northampton Senior Center until her retirement in 1993. Mary was an active communicant at St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland and was a member of the St. Bede Young at Heart Seniors and Council Rock Seniors. Evident to all was that her true joy in life was the quality times spent with her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Ann Michalis of Holland, Edward T. Masterson (Louise) of Holland, Helen M. Lumpkin (Gregory) of Newtown and Jean M. McVeigh (Michael) of Mount Laurel, NJ, and the late Michael L. Masterson. Loving “Nana” to her 9 grandchildren, Patricia Theisz (Peter), Krista Michalis, Bryan Michalis, Michael Masterson, Kaitlin Mahon (Thomas), Casey Lumpkin, Frank Lumpkin, Bridget McVeigh, Brooke McVeigh, and 2 great grandchildren Carolyn and Christopher Theisz.
She is also survived by Brother Martin Healy FMS. of Roselle, NJ, Patrick Healy and his wife Elsy of Manassas, VA, Anna Smith of Lewes, DE, Sister Angelus Healy O.P. of Blauvelt, NY, the late Donald Healy and Margaret Wynne. Also, survived by her dear sister-in-law Helen Clinch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 7:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, March 15th in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, 18954 and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 16th in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Mary’s interment will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery in Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 100 N. 20th Street, Suite 405, Philadelphia, PA 19103 or Gilda’s Club Delaware Valley, 200 Kirk Road, Warminster, PA 18974.
