Sadie M. Galloway of Yardley, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, after a brief illness at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. She was 96.
She was the beloved wife for 62 years of the late George Edgar “Ed” Galloway whom she met when they both were attending the School of the Ozarks in Branson, MO.
Born in Doniphan, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Howard William and Ethel Zada Swindel Thaxton, sister of the late Josephine Griffin, Frances Leisse, Bryan Thaxton and Edna Lee Berger and sister-in-law of the late Bunnie Powers-Merritt.
Mrs. Galloway was a resident of Yardley for the past 3 ½ years and formerly resided at Twining Manor in Holland and currently at Spring Village at Floral Vale in Yardley. She will be sadly missed and always remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her two children, Janice L. Gavin and her husband, Edwin, of Yardley, PA and George Edgar Galloway Jr. and his girlfriend, Hui Xu, of San Francisco, CA, one sister-in-law, Ernestine Cox of Springfield, MO, four nephews, Thomas M. Cox and his wife, Deniece, of Russellville, AR, James Berger and his wife, Joann, of St. Louis, MO, William Berger and his wife, Julie, of St. Louis, MO, Leo Richard Leisse, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL and three nieces, Sheryl Watts and her husband, Jim, of Republic, MO, Nancy Phipps and her husband, Danny, of Billings, MO and Suzanne Powers of Buffalo , MO.
Funeral services will be held privately. Her interment will take place at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
Her children would like to take this opportunity to extend their love and gratitude to the caring and dedicated staff of Twining Manor in Holland and Spring Village at Floral Vale (Memory Care) in Yardley, PA for the excellent care and devoted attention that their mother received which will never be forgotten.
