William “Bill” M. Ginty Jr., a longtime resident of Newtown, PA and Ocean Grove, NJ died on Friday, February 26, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 80.
He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Marty Ginty.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William M. Sr. and Ida C. Kirk Ginty, and is pre-deceased by his daughter, Karen Ginty and his two sisters, Beatrice Cornett and Judith McMonigle.
After graduating from Northeast Catholic High School, Bill enlisted in the US Navy, serving proudly on 4 aircraft carriers during the Korean War. Following his military service, he attended Temple University and graduated from Bloomsburg University, where he met his future wife, Marty Moyer. He received a Master’s degree at Rider University in Educational Administration and was employed as a teacher and administrator in the Bristol Township school district for 30 years, serving in several schools.
Bill was a lifetime member of the USS Intrepid Association as well as the American Legion and the VFW. Following his retirement, he owned an antique shop in Newtown and participated in antique shows in the area.
During their retirement years, Bill and Marty enjoyed summers in Ocean Grove, NJ and winters in Key West, FL.
In addition to his beloved wife Marty, William is survived by his loving children William M. Ginty III (Denise Moloney), and Christopher Ginty, his brother Paul M. Ginty (Sally), his sister Nona Hammer, and brother-in-law Tom McMonigle, along with many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd, Newtown, PA 18940 from 10:30AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
