Steven A. Macy of Newtown and formerly of the Olney section of Philadelphia passed away at his home on Tuesday May 27, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was 59.
Steve was the beloved husband of 27 years to Debbie L. Ott Macy and the adoring father of Nick Macy; he was the son of the late Samuel and Dorothy McMaster Macy.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Steve was extremely proud of his deep roots in the Olney section of the city. He attended St. Helena school as a child and went on to graduate from Cardinal Dougherty High School with the class of 1973.
Steve was head coach of the Princeton University Men’s Club Ice Hockey Team for 15 years and also coached youth ice hockey for the Wintersport Royals in Willow Grove and the Warwick Wildcats. He made a great impact and was very much admired during his time coaching. His legacy of kindness will live on in the many lives he touched through the years.
A voracious reader, Steve avidly followed current events and was rarely found without a book in his hand. He treasured time with his family, vacations to Ocean City, NJ and was a role model to all around him. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife and son, Steve is survived by his siblings and their families, Joanne Linus, Susie O’Connell, Betty Piccolo, Dianne Coyle, Sandy Ward, Joseph Macy, Marianne Brakoniecki, and Carolanne Wismer; and his aunt and godmother, Edna Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 6:00-9:00 PM on Friday May 30, 2014 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd., (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954 and to his funeral mass 11:00 AM, Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
