Beryl B. Hoff, of Chalfont, PA formerly of East Stroudsburg, PA died on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Wesley Enhanced Living. She was 83.
She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Hoff.
Born in Newtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion E. Worthington Bellmeyer and sister of the late Harold D. Bellmeyer.
Beryl grew up in Newtown and was a 1950 graduate of Council Rock High School and then went on to Central College in Pella, Iowa. After graduating with a BA in teaching she remained in Iowa for a year to teach. After returning home she took a position with the Upper Moreland School District at the North Willow Grove School and then in 1963 she took over the 6th grade teacher position at Kutz Elementary, where she remained for over 24 years.
In retirement, Beryl continued to be very active. After moving to the Poconos in 1987 she and Bill enjoyed playing golf in the area and in South Carolina during the winter. She worked as a golf starter in the Poconos and after Bills' death she volunteered for the VNA Hospice of Monroe County. For her, it was the best of both worlds. She loved to help people and she loved golf and she was most happy when she was able to bring the two together in the annual VNA Hospice Golf Outing that she organized. Beryl ran the outing for 11 years and was proud to have raised over $100,000 during her tenure. She was also involved in her church, the Analomink United Methodist Church and volunteered around the church and their various events. Even though her days seemed to be filled with work, she always made time for family and friends.
Throughout her life Beryl gave to others. She gave her time, her knowledge, her dedication and her heart. Her selfless acts of love and charity will always be appreciated by her family and friends and those that received the benefits of her hard work.
She is survived by her sister Lois B. Lynch of Chalfont, her nephew Darryl Bellmeyer Sr. of Quakertown, her great-nephew; Darryl Bellmeyer Jr. and his wife Lori of Doylestown and her great-niece Christa Beam and her husband Alan of Sellersville. She is also survived by her great-great-niece Paige and her two great-great-nephews Owen and Gavin.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 9:30am until her Funeral Service 11:00am at Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church, 321 W. Butler Avenue, New Britain, PA 18901. Her interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg PA 18301 or Analomink United Methodist Church, Cherry Lane and Highway 191, Analomink, PA 18320.
