Pasquale J. Mangione, Jr. of New Hope died Monday February 22, 2016 at Aria Hospital Torresdale. He was 87.
Born in Philadelphia, Pat as he was known, was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Rita E. (nee Schiavo), and son of the late Pasquale J. Sr. and Rose Baldino DiPietro.
Pat was born and raised in South Philadelphia; he was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, class of 1946 and received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952. After graduation went to work as an aeronautical engineer for the United States Navy and had an illustrious career lasting 38 years at locations in Philadelphia and Trenton, New Jersey. After his retirement from his career for the Navy, Pat continued as a consultant for 10 years with AERA in Yardley, PA. Pat was a resident of Holland for 23 years before moving to Buckingham Springs in 1995 and was a communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Parish and continued to be a parishioner even after moving to New Hope.
Pat’s family came first and foremost and his late wife Rita was the sparkle in his eyes, next came his children and their families. He looked forward to the many happy times they had at the Jersey shore playing card games and even taking time for a game of chance at the casino. Through the years Pat and his family, including his sister and her family took trips to many wonderful places. He was loved by many; he kept close contact with his colleagues from the Navy and would have breakfast with them once a month. Pat was an avid sports fan and looked forward to watching the Eagles and Phillies games, bowling and playing golf with his friends. He will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted family and his many friends.
Pat is survived by his devoted family; Pasquale J. III and his wife Kathleen, Michael A. and his wife Linda, Lisa M. LeBlanc and her husband Harvey, Rita E. Menzen and her husband Bruce, Carl W. and his wife Christine, Michelle A. Modica and her husband Michael and David C. and his wife Maria.
