Dr. Elena W. Bruno of North Wales passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Abington Hospice at Warminster.  She was 88 years of age.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Giovanni Bruno, who served as a Radiologist with Doylestown Hospital in the early 1960s.

Born in Meridan, CT she was a daughter of the late Dr. Fiore Agesilao Parisi and Frances Dolores Parisi.

Elena spent much of her life in the State of Maine where she graduated from North Yarmouth Academy.  She went on to attend Des Moines Still College of Osteopathy and Surgery where she earned her Doctorate degree of Osteopathic Medicine.  Following Medical School she completed a residency in Pediatrics.

Dr. Bruno was a distinguished member of the Medical Department of the City of Philadelphia, Court of Common Pleas, Family Court Division, for the last twenty (20) years of her career.  During that time, Dr. Bruno dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate by providing medical treatment to child-victims of physical and sexual abuse.

Dr. Bruno was a true pioneer in the medical profession, having been the only woman in her graduating class.  She was recognized as a stellar diagnostician by her colleagues, who endearingly referred to her as, “Dr. STAT.”  Additionally, Dr. Bruno was a truly gifted and creative physician, having hand-crafted a protégé pacifier used during infancy by her children.

She will be remembered as a tenacious, fun-loving, woman who loved to make people laugh and aspired to be a clown.  Utmost in her life was her unyeilding devotion to her children, and love for her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dr. Bruno is survived by her two daughters, Caterina R. Gibson and Lucia F. Bruno, Esquire; her adoring grandchildren, Nicole Caraher (Dr. Timothy Caraher) and Tyler Gibson; and her great-granddaughter, Elena Rose Caraher.  She also leaves behind her siblings, Lawrence Parisi (Pamela), Angelina Olenczak (Stanley), Antoinette Doyle (the late John J.), and Maria Vowles.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Herbert Parisi, Dr. Nunzio Parisi, and her sister, Frances Parisi.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday January 19, 2016 from 9:30 AM until her Funeral Service 10:30 AM at the Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Ave., Fort Washington, PA 19034.  Her interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
