Robert J. Benco Sr. of Richboro, PA died suddenly on Friday, January 8, 2016, at his residence. He was 81.
He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. Lawlor Benco.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Mary Stephens Benco and brother of the late George Benco, Joseph Benco and Anne Patrick.
Mr. Benco was a resident of Richboro for the past 10 years and formerly of the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia from 1963 until moving to Richboro in 2005. He was a graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as an electrical designer for United Engineers and Raytheon retiring in 1993. Mr. Benco was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holmesburg Council # 1284 in Philadelphia. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid fan of the Phillies and enjoyed watching both Notre Dame and the Eagles football games. He was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed as a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his three children, Robert J. Benco Jr. and his wife, Valerie, Gina P. Benco and Michael Haas, and Patricia A. Morris and her husband, Christopher, and his 8 loving grandchildren, Katie, Kelly, Sarah, Samantha, Colin, Joshua, Gabriella and Zachary. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nancy, and his brothers-in-law; Mike, Harry and James and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954 and to his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Autism Society of America, 4340 East-West Hwy, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814.
