Doris Mae Connery Hunsberger of Tafton, PA and formerly of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully at Bethany Village Living Community on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was 87.
Born in Doylestown, PA, on May 18, 1928 Doris was the daughter of the late Milton Homer and Mary Mapes Connery, sister of the late Harold M. Connery, and the sister-in-law of the late Louis Machalette.
She was a graduate of Hatboro High School (1946) where she participated in cheerleading and other sports activities. She loved roller skating, swimming/diving and life at the lakes.
Doris was the beloved wife of 69 years to Irvin M. Hunsberger Jr. They were married on September 14, 1946 shortly after his return from Military Service during WWII in Europe.
Doris and Irv built a family retreat (work retreat, come one come all) in the Lake Wallenpaupack region in 1964 where they settled into retirement in 1993.
In addition to her husband Irvin, Doris Mae is survived by her loving children: Irvin M. Hunsberger III and his wife Isabel, Gary H. Hunsberger, Steven M. Hunsberger and his wife Catherine, and Amy E. Hunsberger. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her siblings Mary Ann Machalette, Roland S. Connery (Betty), W. Stanley Connery (Leslie), and her sister-in-law Rose Connery.
Doris Mae’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 10:00am until her Memorial Service 12:00PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
