Elaine S. Murphy of Bensalem, PA died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at her residence. She was 71.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick C. and Elizabeth M. Michels Hoehn.
Mrs. Murphy was a resident of Bensalem for the past 2 years. She was a former resident of the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia from 1968 until moving to Ocean City, NJ in 1998. She graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1962. Mrs. Murphy was employed as a medical secretary for 30 years at Temple University Hospital and Abington Memorial Hospital before her retirement in 2006. In her leisure time she enjoyed the seashore, BBQs and fishing. She had a passion for travel and visited Greece, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal and Spain, Her true love was the Caribbean with its turquoise water and white beaches. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her three children, Cathleen V. Haggerty and her husband, Jack, James D. Murphy and his wife, Lisa, Brian P. Murphy and his wife, Christine, and her sister, Marie A. Horeis. She is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren, Kevin, Jack Jr., Tommy, Shannon, Megan, James H., James D. Jr., Emma, Dannan and Michael and was expecting the birth of her first great granddaughter in February.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA 19053. Her interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory maybe made to Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. 3rd. Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123 or American Lung Association, 527 Plymouth Road, Suite 415, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
