Stephen R. Eckert of Chalfont, PA died suddenly on Friday, November 27, 2015, at Abington-Lansdale Hospital Jefferson Health, Lansdale, PA. He was 48.
He was the husband of Rhonda G. Guill Eckert for 12 years.
Born in Meadowbrook, PA, he was the son of Helen F. Schleicher Eckert of Chalfont, PA and the late Charles T. Eckert Jr.
Steve was a resident of Chalfont for the past 2 years and formerly lived in Hilltown for 11years. He graduated from Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Class of 1985. He was an auto mechanic for many years and recently had started his own auto repair business. His true passion in life was being a race car enthusiast, and built his own race car which he raced at the local tracks. Steve was a dedicated father who was actively involved with his son’s activities. He will be sadly missed and remembered as a devoted father, husband, son, brother and uncle.
In addition to Rhonda and his mother, Helen Eckert, he is survived by his son, Stephen R. Eckert Jr. of Line Lexington, PA, stepdad to Jessica, Kelly and Kristen Shirley. Brother of Linda Eckert of Hilltown, Charles T. Eckert and his wife, Elaine, of Maple Glen, PA and his twin brother, Christopher P. Eckert and his wife, Dianne, of Buckingham, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 9:00am until his Liturgical Service at 10:30am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road) New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Stephen Eckert Jr. Custodial Educational Fund, C/O Trumark Financial Credit Union, 100 Northbrook Drive, Trevose, PA 19053-8496.
