Joseph F. Zimmerman Sr. of Newtown and formerly of New Port Richey, FL died peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015, at his residence. He was 96.

Joe was the beloved husband of 73 years to Renita D. Stowers Zimmerman.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna Walheim Zimmerman and the father of the late Joseph F. Zimmerman Jr.

Joe was a veteran of the Army who served as a medic during the Second World War. He worked as a supervisor for over 40 years for Pennwalt Chemical Company until his retirement in 1981.

In addition to his beloved wife Renita, Joe is survived by his loving children; David J. Zimmerman and his wife, Jeanette, of Telford, PA, Renita A. Holland and her husband, Joseph, of Newtown, Jeanette M. Daley of Quakertown, and Steven J. Zimmerman of New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Annie Zimmerman, of Amelia Island, FL, his brother, Aloysius Zimmerman, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Joe’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. His interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
