Thomas P. Priore of Southampton, 70, died peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Abington Hospice, Warminster, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was the beloved husband of 42 years of Susan L. Buzby Priore and the son of the late Joseph and Julia Talone Priore.

Tom was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School, class of 1963. He served an apprenticeship as a marine mechanic at the Philadelphia Navy Yard until 1965 when he entered Temple University. As the Vietnam Conflict expanded, Tom left Temple University and was called to active duty in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Cutlass, a submarine, and after his tour of duty, Tom returned to the Navy Yard to pick up his apprenticeship. He reentered Temple University night school program and, in 1979, he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Tom’s professional career spanned 36 years working at the Navy Yard. He retired in 2001 as a Marine Gas Turbine Program Manager for the Naval Surface Warfare Center. After leaving the Navy Yard, Tom worked for Rolls Royce North America, Marine Division, in Reston, VA for 3 years. He retired from the US Naval Reserve in 1992 as a Master Chief, after 28 years of service.

Tom was an active member of the American Legion, Pennypack Post # 800, a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He served as the chairman of the Marine Committee.

Tom was a jack of all trades that could fix anything, and his home was his castle. He enjoyed wood working, loved to cook for family and friends, and looked forward to a heated political conversation.

In addition to his beloved wife, Susan, Tom is survived by his daughter, Jillian S. Priore, son, Thomas P. Priore Jr., his wife, Allison M., and his two dear grandchildren, Maxwell T. and Christian D. Priore. He is also survived by one brother, Joseph Priore.

Tom’s family will receive condolences on Thursday October 8, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland, PA 18974, from 10:00 am until his Memorial Services at 11:30 am. Military Honors will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, 1810 Grant Ave., Phila, PA 19115.
