Joseph J. Parkinson of Holland died peacefully on September 17, 2015, at his home. He was 87 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Joe (also known as Buddy) was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Seeley) Parkinson, and beloved husband of 64 years to Mary C. Menta.
Joe was a resident of Holland for the past six years, having formerly lived in South Philadelphia and later Northeast Philadelphia. Joe was a proud veteran, who served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. He worked as a dispatcher for over 39 years for ITE and SPD Technologies until his retirement in 1990. He was a parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church.
Family came first and foremost to Joe. He and his wife were devoted and loving parents to their 10 children. Joe will be sadly missed, not only by his family, but by their many relatives and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary, he is survived by his loving children Mary Vito (John), Nancy Marchese (Angelo), Judy Gioia (Joe), Lorraine Fergione (Ray), Joann Parkinson, Kathy Nealis (Ted), Tricia Holler (Bill), Joseph Parkinson (Colleen), Diana Nelms (Mike), Lynn Small (Todd), and his brother, George Parklnson, and his sister, Mary Long. Joe is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday evening, September 21, 2015, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, from 6:30 pm until his Funeral Mass at 8:30 pm. Interment with Military Honors will be private at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Monastery of St. Clare, 1271 Newtown-Langhorne Road, Langhorne, PA 19047.
