William F. Mahoney of Holland died peacefully on Friday July 31, 2015 at Twining Village, Holland. He was 93.
William was the beloved husband of Mary Eleanor (Quinn) Mahoney. The two were married for 69 years.
Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late James J. and Cecila Rupertus Mahoney.
William was a resident of Newtown for 35 years before moving to Twining Village nearly two years ago. Along with his wife, he was an active Parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown.
A 1941 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School for Boys, William went on to work for PTC before joining the Army in 1943. He served proudly with the US Army Signal Corp as a Radio Operator until 1946. Upon his return from the military he continued his work with PTC and earned his degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, all while working full time to support his family.
He later served as Accounting Manager for Kingsbury, Inc. in Philadelphia from 1968 until his retirement in 1985.
William was an avid reader who loved to follow the stock market, the weather, and converse about current events. He was also a long-time and faithful fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.
Above all else, however, William will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
William’s family wishes to thank the aides from BrightStar Home Care, the staff from Compassionate Care Hospice, and the nursing staff of Twining Village for the compassionate care shown to William and his family during his illness.
