Iris M. Kalbhenn, of Richboro, passed away on May 26th in her daughter’s home in Grapevine, Texas. She was 84 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur F. (“Bud”) Kalbhenn, whose death on May 25, 2007 ended their 52 years of marriage. Born on June 7, 1930 in Kearny, New Jersey, she was the daughter the late Charles and Isabella McCurley.
Iris lived at Galloway Farm for over 50 years and raised horses and ponies with her two daughters. She cared deeply for animals and had many animal companions throughout her life. She was active in the sport of horsemanship and served as the District Commissioner for the Huntington Valley Hunt Pony Club. An Elder and active member of Addisville Reformed Church, she was a faithful servant involved in many church activities.
Iris found great pleasure in watching her grandchildren grow up playing at Galloway Farm and taking the family on an annual vacation to Corolla Light Resort Village on the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Iris and Bud enjoyed traveling together throughout the US and spent many winters at the Crystal Lake RV Resort in Naples, Florida. She moved to Grapevine, Texas, to live with her daughter, Nancy, in 2011.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Chip Sones of Grapevine, Texas, and Gail and Kevin Crouthamel of Amissville, Virginia; 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard McCurley and Robert McCurley.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Addisville Reformed Church at 945 Second Street Pike, Richboro, Pennsylvania, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Douglas Dwyer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery.
