Thomas W. Copenhaver of New Hope and formerly of Devon, PA and Wayne, PA passed away on April 22, 2015 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 69 years old.

Born in Sioux City, IA and raised in Walthill, NE, he was the son of the late Ralph D. and Madeline Bruce Copenhaver.

Tom received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and later earned his Ph.D. in statistics from Colorado State University. He worked for Wyeth Laboratories as a biostatistician until his retirement in 2006 as Senior Director of Biometrics Research.

While at Wyeth, he met and later married his beloved wife Margaret “Marge” DiPonzio Copenhaver. Together they travelled extensively and were active in their community of New Hope and surrounding Bucks County. Tom loved being outdoors, rafting down the Delaware River or simply enjoying a walk along the towpath. He also possessed a great love of animals and will be dearly missed by Sam, his Irish Setter-Brittany Spaniel mix.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his sisters, Georgia Kay Grosvenor and her husband, Jack, and Jere Jo Schmedding and her husband, Larry. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews and their families: Maggie Mowery (Glen), Angela Smith (Lee), John Grosvenor, Lee J Maslonka, and Matt Maslonka (Dawn). He is also survived by countless other relatives and close friends.

All who knew and loved Tom are invited to a light dinner and celebration of his life on Thursday April 30, 2015 from 4 to 7 pm at the Event Center by Cornerstone located at the Eagle Fire Company, 46 N. Sugan Rd., New Hope, PA 18938. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to a local charity of the donor’s choosing.
