Elda Malgieri of North Wales, died peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2015. She was 68.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Eustachio and Lucia Malgieri. Elda will be missed dearly by her sister Ceil Haviland and her brother-in-law Bob of Hatfield, her nieces and nephews, Lisa Monaghan (Joe), Rob Haviland, Kevin Haviland (Charlene) and Lori Haviland, and her beloved great nieces and nephews, Gabriella, Joey, Zachary and Katie.
Elda started in the typing pool of the W. Atlee Burpee Company a month after high school graduation and, over the years, worked her way up to Executive Assistant to the President. She enjoyed 37 years at Burpee and retired there in 2001.
She enjoyed spending time with her family traveling and creating memories with her nieces and nephews. Many laughs were shared at the Jersey shore and the Poconos. In recent years, she loved her winter vacations at The Villages in Florida. She was the heart and soul of every family get together, hosting Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas breakfasts. She was the baker in the family and her birthday cakes and holiday cookies will be sorely missed.
She enjoyed spending time with her cousins, the Cenicola families, and with her longtime girlfriends, especially her best friend Mary Jane.
In recent years, Elda bravely struggled with diabetes and dialysis. But in typical “Elda” fashion, she approached these challenges with a positive attitude and a smile.
It’s her smile we will miss most of all, along with her infectious laugh and her generous spirit. She was a kind, gentle soul who had a way of making everyone she knew feel special and loved.
Elda’s Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 9:00 AM until her Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church 1325 Upper State Rd., North Wales, PA 19454. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA.
