Thomas J. McKnight, known to friends and family as either “TJ” or “Jim” of Holland and formerly of Newtown and Plainsboro, NJ died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 2, 2015. He was 87.
Jim was the beloved husband of 36 years to Mary Margaret Neubeck McKnight.
Born in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth McGovern McKnight.
Jim was a graduate of Drexel University in Mechanical Engineering and M.A. in Engineering Management. He was a former employee of Burroughs Corporation and retired from RCA/GE in 1989. Jim began his own aerospace consulting business, McKnight Associates Inc., which he continued to head until 2004 and is still ongoing. He was an avid lover of music and formed a big band, The Monday Blues, in the early 1970’s. As a vocalist, trumpeter and manager, he played various venues in Pennsylvania and Central New Jersey for over 35 years.
In addition to his wife Mary Margaret, he is survived by his two loving children and their spouses; Stephen J. McKnight and Janice of Sicklerville, NJ and Kristin A. Schmidt and William of Philadelphia and also by his four grandchildren Isla, Coda, Anna, and William.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday evening, April 6th from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and to his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 7th at 10:00 AM in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Sacred Heart School, 1739 Ferry Ave. Camden, NJ 08104.
