Theodore (Ted) Sluke, of Newtown, died peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at The Birches of Newtown. He was 91.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr.Sluke was the beloved husband of 56 years to Elizabeth I. Sluke. He was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Sims) Sluke.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and talented artist, Ted was a resident of Newtown for the past 13 years, and a communicant of The Church of St. Andrew.

He was a graduate of Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, class of 1940, and went on to attend Rutgers University while working for Exxon-Mobil, which at the time was the Standard Oil Co. He earned his B.S. degree in Accounting in 1953. Ted continued working with Exxon-Mobil in accounting/finance in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut until his retirement in 1982 after 36 years.

He spent his retirement years in Charlottesville Virginia, before moving to Newtown Pa.

Ted was a proud veteran of WWII (1943-1946), where he served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States 3rd Army (CORP of Engineers) while in Europe. He then Served in Manila in the Pacific theater to prepare for the invasion of Japan.

In addition to his beloved wife, Ted is survived by his devoted daughter, Lisa Hawley and her husband Peter of Doylestown, his brother Jack Sluke and his wife Ann, his sister Dorothy Grasso and her husband Rody. He is also survived by 2 dear grandchildren; Marisa and Nicole, whom he adored, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, April 6, from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00am at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown. Interment will be private.
