Mary Donis King of Newtown and formerly of Langhorne died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Pennswood Village. She was 85.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Kenneth Edward King.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas T. and Helen Donis. Mary graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s degree in education. It was as a teacher at Neshaminy that she met her husband Ken, of 53 years. After raising her daughters, she returned to teaching at the college level as well as within industry. Later in life she became a certified financial planner, focusing on supporting local educators. Mary was most proud of raising three independent women. She was well-traveled, enjoyed playing bridge, participated in a book club for over 50 years, and loved to garden, play social golf, and to camp.
Mary is survived by her three loving and devoted daughters: Dr. Donna King and her husband Rev. Michael J. Hoffarth of Lawrenceville, NJ, Charlene King of Washington D.C., and Susan Coyne and her husband Tom Coyne and their daughters Jackie and Danielle of Ft. Collins, CO.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Sunday, March 15th 4:30-7:00pm and on Monday, March 16th from 9:00 am until her Funeral Service at 10:00 am in the Joseph A.
