Robert “Bob” J. Carroll, of Holland died peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday.
Born in Albany, NY, Bob moved to Pennsylvania where he was a graduate of West Catholic HS and received a full ROTC scholarship. After graduating from Villanova University in 1958, Bob began his distinguished career as a Mechanical Engineer for the U.S. Navy, receiving multiple awards for his accomplishments, including 2 government patents. He retired in 1993 from the NADC in Warminster.
Bob was an artist, and there was nothing he could not fix or build. TV’s, clocks, furniture, decorations, curtains, etc. He was an active member at St Bedes parish for 45 years, spending the last 30 as the lead usher. He was a wonderful, fun loving guy who liked to joke and made everyone around him smile. He had a great passion and love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than being with his family. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved coaching each one of his kids. Bob rarely missed the chance to be on the sidelines of his kid’s or grandkids’s games and events. He was an outstanding softball player and one of the biggest thrills the family encountered was playing softball with their Dad as a teammate.
Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria( Acquarola), his 6 children: Robert Jr, his wife Trish, Tim his wife Diane, Maureen Renson, Kevin, Chris his wife Cyndi, and Dianne Skelton her husband Calvin, his 14 grandchildren; Robert III (Veronica),Justin, Melanie, Kimberly, Nicole, Stephanie (Brian), Danielle, Gary, Hayley, Ryan, Katelyn, MacKenzie, Marleigh, and Macee, as well as his 4 great grandchildren, Robert IV, Giana, Cadence, Jase, and his brother, John “Jack” (Jane) Carroll. He also will be greatly missed by many others include numerous friends and relatives.
Bob is reunited with his mother and father Mildred (King) and Wesley F Carroll, and brothers Wesley and Richard Carroll and his son-in-law Daniel Renson.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 9:00 am until10:30 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954, followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 am, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966. Robert’s interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Del Val Chapter, 399 Market St. Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
