Joseph W. Birkbeck Jr. of Langhorne passed away on Tuesday February 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. He was 88.
He was the beloved companion of 30 years to Marcella (Marti) Impagliazzo.
Born in Moosic, PA he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Ellen G. Martin Birkbeck.
Joe was devoutly patriotic and was immensely proud of having served his country with the United States Army during World War II in the 10th Armored Division. He later attended Scranton University and went on to join ER Squibb in 1951 retiring after 42 years of service as Director of International Business Development and Marketing. Joe also loved to travel and spend time with those he loved. His kind heart and fun loving nature will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved companion, Marti, Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph Birkbeck III (Sheree) of Porter, TX, Kenneth Birkbeck (Susan) of Spencerport, NY and Roger Birkbeck (Cheryl) of Newtown; his grandchildren Jessica, Nicole, Zach, Alyssa, Ryan, and Adam; and his sisters, Gloria Kittner (Edward) of South Carolina and Edie Calvetti of Boise, ID.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings Grace Russ, June Couch, Carl Birkbeck, and Ruth Huddleson.
Relatives and friends are invited to Joe’s viewing on Tuesday March 3, 2015 from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Service 12:00 PM at the Morrisville Presbyterian Church 771 North Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. His interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 1 Scout Way, Doylestown, PA 18901.
