Paxton E. Quigley, age 62, of Furlong, PA died suddenly on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at CAPAC Medical Center, San Francisco, CA. Born in Wilmington, DE, Paxton was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Sr. and Mildred Norstrom Quigley.
Paxton had been a resident of Furlong for the past 5 years and was formerly of Claymont, DE where he spent his childhood and young adult life. He was a graduate of Claymont High School, Class of 1970 and attended Eastern University in St. David’s, PA. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1974. Paxton had a long career in pharmaceutical research and enjoyed frequent work related trips out of the country.
At the time of his death, Paxton was employed as a clinical research manager for Fibrogen in San Francisco, CA. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing racquetball, which was his favorite sport, gardening and vacationing at his home in Summerfield, FL. Paxton also loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar. One of his favorite things in life was his little dog, Gracie, who waited patiently for him at the cable car stop every evening.
Paxton is survived by his beloved fiancée, Mary L. Weber. He was proud of his three daughters, Stephanie I. Holt and her husband, Andy, of Lewisburg, NC, Jennifer M. Luther of Moorehead City, NC, and Melanie N. Watkins and her husband, Charles, of Zebulon, NC. He was also a loving brother to his sister, Elle E. Straley and her husband, Kevin, of Wilmington, DE and his brother, Rev. John F. Quigley Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Omaha, NB. Paxton is also survived by his seven loving grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 12, 2015, for his visitation at 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
In honor of Paxton’s generous spirit and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
